Uzo Aduba (36 years old) is a well known and multiple award winning actress, based in United States of America. She is an American by nationality and belongs to the African American ethnicity. She was born on February, 1981 in the beautiful city of Boston. Her education took place in the Boston University. She received her admission in the university on the basis of an Athletics scholarship she procured through merit. Here she was pursuing a major in classical training of voice. While doing this, she got introduced to the dazzling world of professional cinema and she fell in love with the idea of acting in movies.


With strong determination, she later shifted to New York City in early days of 2000, to continue pursuing a career in stage acting. Her first debut in the Broadway was in the year 2007, with the famous movie, Coram Boy. This was later followed by her role in the 2012 hit Resurrection of Godspell. She went on to bag many short and long movies, like Notes (2005) and Over there (2007). The highest peak in her success graph came when she was selected to play an important role of Warren aka ‘crazy eyes’ in the globally popular series on netflix, called “Orange is the new black’. The story of the famous series is set in a women’s prison.

Playing this role alone made Uzo famous worldwide and made her a cultural phenomenon. While playing the role of the crazy eyes, she gathered lots of acclamations, industry honours and even fans. She later went on to win two Grammy awards for playing this role with utmost perfection. For her role in the series, Uzo was awarded with the prestigious Screen actors guild award for excellent performance in a comedy series (female).

Uzo was brought up in the lovely city of Medfield, Massachusetts. Uzoamaka was the traditional Nigerian name given to her in childhood. She eventually started hating this name of hers as the other kids in her school failed to pronounce it in the proper way. Not only she excelled in the field of acting, but also took interest in athletics and sports.

In fact, during her education years, she used to be an ace track star. Uzo has a successful history of working with some of the most prestigious drama and theatre institutions in the country like the Huntington theatre and the Repertory theatre of America. While working for the Repertory theatre of America, she was awarded with the prestigious Elliot Norton Award for extraordinary musical performance.

She was also nominated for the Helen Hayes award for her contribution in production of Translations of Xhosa. Uzo’s first debut in the field of television series was with the CBS drama series, Blue Bloods in the year 2012. However, it was a very small role for a celebrity of her status.
