So, now, I’m a die-hard journalist. I’m a purist. It’s through me, every inch of me. I love being a reporter. I love being an anchor.”

Moving from ABC To FOX

In the summer of 2017, Lori Stokes surprised her fan and peers when she left WABC after 17 years co-anchoring at the station. She was a big part of the network’s Eyewitness News programs. She shocked everyone again in October 2017 when she announced that she would be partnering with Rosanna Scotto to be co anchors of New York's Good Day New York for the Fox Network.

She explained the decision of moving from ABC to Fox to the North Jersey Paper, “It’s going great. Any time you make a huge jump after being somewhere for 17 years, it’s a little frightening, especially when you have your sense of security, plus being the age I am. I checked with my children to make sure they were OK. I consulted with my mom. I knew the operation I was going to. I’d spoken with Jack Abernethy, the chief executive officer of Fox Television. I’d spoken with Byron Harmon, my news director. Right before I started, I spoke with Rosanna.”

Lori’s approach to breaking the news of the move to the relevant people shows how much character she has. She wasn’t just concerned with herself. She wanted to make sure that those people around her supported her decision. She wanted to make sure that her children with fine with the move before she did it because she was aware of the impact it would have on their lives. Her mom was always a guiding light in her life so she knew that she could count on her for some sound advice. If her mom felt a decision was right, Lori knew that she could follow it without any doubts. She also wanted to make sure that Fox would be a welcoming new home for her. Instead of accepting the offer right away, she made sure to check on the station to see if they would be the right situation for her. She was very comfortable with her former ABC home and wanted assurance that she would have the same support at her new FOX home.

Lori had no regrets after she made the tough decision, “So, I felt it was the right move at this juncture in my life, and I don’t have one regret. Rosanna’s a great partner. We’re committed to news, but I’m allowed to venture into a territory I’ve never been in before to this extent, which is the entertainment, glamour, lifestyle and health side of things, and I’m interviewing top-notch celebrities, authors and people making amazing documentaries. So, in many respects, you have to pinch yourself and say, ‘Just when you thought you had done it all, you really didn't.’ And how exciting it is.”
