Josh Groban is an entertainer who has showcased his talents as a singer, actor, and songwriter. He kick-started his very successful music career in 1998 and after about twenty years, he has sold millions of albums across the globe. Personal Life


Joshua Winslow Groban is the eldest child of his parents, his mother Lindy is a teacher and his father Jack, a businessman. Chris Groban is his younger sibling. Josh and Chris were both born and raised in Los Angeles. Coming from parents of artistic and musical background Josh’s passion for singing and acting was embedded in him since he was a child. His initial interest was in becoming an actor.

However, his gifted voice was recognized by a teacher who encouraged him to do a solo performance at a school programme. Not keen on studies, he took up the music and vocal training in Michigan’s Arts Institute, the Interlochen Centre. His next Arts School was Los Angeles County High, where he studied theatre as his major. While attending music theatre classes in the renowned Carnegie Mellon University, Josh made the risky move of dropping out and signing a contract with a recording company. Groban’s teacher Mr. Riggs had introduced him as a teenager to David Foster and Brian Avent, who became his manager later on. At the beginning of his career, Groban started off as a substitute for Andrea Bocelli, his singing during the rehearsals impressed Rosie O’Donnell who later asked him to come on her show, all these incidents ended in him starring in the comedy ‘Ally McBeal’.

Foster’s recommendation to the Warner Bros. gave Groban a record ding deal with them. He sang for the move Artificial Intelligence in 2001 along with Lara Fabian. Josh’s first album titled ‘Josh Groban’, which released in 2001, was a major hit that went from gold the first year to double-platinum the next year. His next album was called ‘Closer’ (2003), followed by another album in 2006 ‘Awake’, the right net year he released ‘Noel’. In 2010, he brought out his fifth album, ‘Illuminations’, the songs mainly dealt with love and emotions following a breakup. His two other albums are ‘All That Echoes’ (2013) and ‘Stages’ (2015). Till date, he was sold over twenty-five million records.

Josh is no stranger to ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’; he has appeared on it exactly six times, which is commendable, in itself. As he attained more fame he was called on to ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, ‘Great Job!’, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and many others.

Josh Groban has made appearances in small roles in movies including, ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ as Richard, ‘Coffee Town' as Sam, ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ as a prisoner and in ‘The Hollars’ as Reverend Dan. Groban has used his fame for promoting and raising money for various causes and charities. He established the Josh Groban Foundation aimed at helping youth and children by means of education.
