Mika Brzezinski

Mika Emilie Leonia Brzezinski Scarborough is an American journalist, talk show host, liberal political commentator, and author. She was a CBS News correspondent who served as the primary "Ground Zero" reporter on September 11, 2001. She joined MSNBC as an infrequent anchor in 2007 and was later named co-host of Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough.


Background

Brzezinski was born in New York City, the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, a Polish-born foreign policy analyst and former National Security Advisor, and Emilie Anna Beneová, a Swiss-born sculptor. Her mother, who is of Czech origin, is a granddaughter of former Czechoslovak President Edvard Bene. Her father was a professor at Columbia University when she was born. The family moved to McLean, Virginia, near Washington, D.C., in late 1976, when freshly elected President Jimmy Carter chose Zbigniew as National Security Advisor. Mark Brzezinski, her brother, is an American diplomat who served as the U.S. Ambassador to Sweden from 2011 to 2015. Ian Brzezinski, her second brother, is a military expert. She is the author of Matthew Brzezinski's first cousin.

Brzezinski attended the Madeira School before transferring to Georgetown University for two years before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Williams College in 1989. Mika attended Madera School for her high school education. She went on to attend Georgetown University before seeking a transfer to another college. Brzezinski completed her graduation from Williams College, located in Williamstown, Massachusetts, in 1989. She majored in English.

Career

Mika started her career as an assistant journalist in 1990. She was the presenter of ABC's World News This Morning program. The following year, she was offered employment at the Tribute - affiliate of WTIC-TV-DT based in Connecticut. While there, she was promoted from handling assignments and feature editing to being the general reporter.

In 1992, Mika joined the WFSB-TV station as a weekday morning news anchor. After five years, she resigned and found an opportunity as a correspondent at CBS, where she anchored Up to the Minute News. She joined MSNBC co-hosting the Home Page with Gina Gaston and Ashleigh Banfield. This was an intriguing show because it had an anchor crew of all women, which was received positively in the political media world.

In 2001, she returned to CBS Network, contributing to the CBS Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes programs. She was assigned a ground zero reporter to cover the September 11, 2001 attacks. She was broadcasting live when she saw the south tower collapsed in front of her own eyes. The coverage gave her the spotlight and exposure as a journalist. She was dismissed from CBS in 2006 for undisclosed reasons.

She moved to MSNBC at the beginning of 2007, where she was assigned to anchor Up to the Minute and the NBC Nightly News and Weekend Today news programs. She co-anchored Morning Joe with Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist, with her father being a frequent guest on the show. Controversy

Controversies have marred her career. She once refused to read the news announcement on Paris Hilton's acquittal from prison. Instead, she concentrated on the disagreement of Richard Lugar regarding George Bush's Iraqi war. She felt the Paris Hilton story was pointless and that there were more important stories to cover for the viewers.

In 2010, Mika objected to reading news on Lindsay Lohan, and in 2011, she ignored Sarah Palin's counter on Obama's remarks on the Tucson shootings. She set a standard for hard news and called entertainment news a waste of time. Ironically, she got massive support for her stubbornness and desire to clean up the report.

She is a strong woman who voices her opinions so that they be heard loud enough.

She is an author and has written very inspiring books that are well respected by the public. She focuses on women's issues in her books. Her recent book, 'Know your worth', has won her many accolades. She put in her own experiences in making that book to reach the crowd with her perspective. Before then, she had written another book, All Things at Once, inspiring all women.

Personal Life

Mika met James Hoffer when they were working together at WABC. They both hit off so well, and they were in a long romantic relationship before they decided to take their relationship to the next level of marriage. They got married in 1993. They have two daughters.

Mika is a complete career-oriented woman. She is happily married and very content in her life. Her husband, James, is a very caring man and a wonderful father. She had reached success in her professional life, but one incident in her life turned her upside down when she slipped from the stairs of her house holding a newborn baby in her arms. There were rumors that the affair led to the divorce between him and his wife in 2016. Rumour mills were buzzing that Joe was Mika's alleged boyfriend. Mika and James Hoffer got a divorce in 2016. Mika went on to get engaged to Joe Scarborough in 2017, confirming that they were romantically involved.
