Matt Lauer is a well renowned television journalist who is popularly known for hosting The Today Show on NBC. He has also hosted a few episodes of the HBO Entertainment News and also worked for sports channel, ESPN.

This famous personality Matt Lauer took birth on 30th December, 1957 in NYC in the U.S.A. He belongs to white ethnical background and his zodiac sign is Capricorn. His father Jay Robert Lauer was an executive for a bicycle company while his mother Marilyn Lauer was a boutique owner. His father was Romanian Jewish while his mother was American. It wasn’t long before his father’s death when Lauer was given the opportunity to co-host The Today Show by replacing Bryant Gumbel.

Matt Lauer went to Greenwich High School and he graduated from there itself. After completing his high school, Matt earned an undergraduate degree from Ohio University in the year 1997. Matt is single as of now. He got married twice in his life. At first, he met screenwriter Nancy Alspaugh in 1981 and tied the knot with her the following year. This couple too spent eight years together before Matt took a divorce in 2006. Matt has three children with his second partner named Jack Mathew Lauer, Romy Lauer and Thijs. Matt is probably single as of now but however, some sources claim that he started dating American journalist Natalie Morales back in 2009 but he surely has no family with Natalie.

Career

Matt Lauer used to be a bright student in his school and college days which is why he went on to become such a successful television host. He graduated from Scripps College of Communication which is a school of Media Arts and Studies and falls under the prestigious Ohio University. Surprisingly, Matt got his college degree when he was 39 years of age in the year 1997. This was because his television career started while he was in college and as a result, he had to drop out in 1979.

Lauer started his career in television in 1979 as a producer of the 12 O’clock news for WOWK-TV in West Virginia. Then he started hosting several weekly information and talk programs in Boston and Richmond.  He also hosted the famous PM Magazine in Providence and then in the year 1984 at WNEW-TV in NYC until the show got cancelled two years later. After PM Magazine got cancelled, he started to co-host ‘Made In New York’ along with Jill Rappaport. He hasn’t appeared on any tv shows yet.
