Joel Osteen’s complete name is Joel Scott Osteen. His birth date is 5 March, 1963 and he was brought in Houston, Texas, USA. His father’s name is John Osteen and mother’s name is Dolores Pilgrim Osteen. His father, John Osteen was a Baptist pastor and he established Lakewood Church and worked to make it grow. John and Dolores had five children including Joel. John also had a son from his first wife named Justin. Joel completed his high school from Humble High school. He started studying radio and television communications at Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma but he did not complete his graduation. He came back to his home and started working with his father as an editor and publishing supervisor for his ministry show. For 15 years he worked for the show as producer or director.

His father asked him for sermons many times but he refused and cause of his shy nature preferred to work behind the scenes. In the end, in 1999 he did his very first sermon because of his father’s sickness. He was wearing his father’s shoes at the time of preaching. All went well and people liked his preach and his easy style. But just eleven days later his father passed away cause of a heart attack. After his father Joel was named as the senior pastor of the church. Since Joel named as pastor number of people increased in the church.
