Dennis Miller is a famous, multiple Emmy award winning American comedy artist. He is popular for his distinctive assessment of critical situations in his own inimitable idiosyncratic style. Comedy Nights placed him 21st in their list of the 100 greatest comedians of all time. Apart from this, he has several prestigious awards to his merit. Dennis hosts his own primetime Saturday Night Live and several other shows on CNBC and HBO. Vulture.com called him the best ever host in SNL history.

PERSONAL LIFE:
Dennis Miller was born in 1953 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He and his five siblings were raised by his mother Norma who was a single parent. The talented comedian initially attended the St Anne School and later graduated from the Keystone Oaks High School in 1971. As a child, he was very shy and introverted. Dennis joined Point Park University for his higher studies and graduated with journalism major in 1976.
After graduation, he could not find a suitable job in journalism and therefore he took up a lot of odd jobs such as an ice cream scooper, janitor, delivery man at a florists’ etc. Miller’s comedian aspirations were kindled when he first saw a Robin Williams show on TV in 1979. Following this, Miller began to pursue open mike nights in Pittsburgh. He did not meet with success initially as he was consumed by fright.
However, he managed to overcome these hurdles and eventually, started performing as a regular. Soon, Miller participated in various contests which led him to be discovered by talent scouts and landed him a spot at the famous SNL. This marked the beginning for his innumerable achievements afterward. Miller is married to Carolyn Easley since 1988. The couple has two children and live in Santa Barbara, California, United States.
CAREER:
After becoming a regular at the open mike nights in the Pittsburg area, Miller auditioned for several contests. He then decided to take his career to the next level by auditioning for the Laff-off contest which had a few slots left in addition, as most of them were already filled by industry stalwarts. Miller tried for the same and won a position. The comedian’s performance was welcomed with a standing ovation.
Although he did not win the contest, it earned him a lot of exposure. He soon was discovered and hired by Lorne Michaels of the Comedy store to perform at the Saturday Night Live. This was soon followed by his five time Emmy winning “Dennis Miller Live” on HBO. This show was a raging hit until HBO finally cancelled it in 2002. The famous comedian often speaks on the topics of politics, libertarianism, pop culture and current events.
Although during his early years, he was deemed a liberal and was known for his outspoken stance against the Republicans, in recent years he has been indicating his inclination towards the Republicans. Dennis was a regular in the Fox channel’s O’Reilly factor as a political commentator. Since then he has appeared in several shows as a guest and appeared in minor roles in various TV shows and films.
