Personal life

Cheryl Tiegs was born on 25th September, 1947 to parents Theodore Tiegs and Phyllis Tiegs in Minnesota, U.S.A. Her full name is Cheryl Rae Tiegs. Her birth sign is Virgo and she holds American nationality. Cheryl belongs to the white ethnicity. Cheryl, along with her family, moved to California in 1952. While she was still in high school, she posed for a swimsuit advertisement for ‘Cole of California’, which is a bathing suit manufacturing company. She was seventeen when she did this ad and thus began her career in modeling. She later enrolled at the California State University to pursue a major in English but had to drop out to continue with her modeling and acting career.

Career

Cheryl Tiegs was advised by a close to audition for television commercials. Following her friend’s advice, she landed a few roles in TV commercials. This gave young Cheryl a lot of exposure which eventually led to her appearing on the cover of ‘Glamour’ magazine in the year 1964. Overwhelmed by the response she got, Cheryl at once shifted to New York City hoping to sign a professional modeling contract.

After struggling to find work initially, Cheryl ended up doing photo shoots with some prestigious magazines like ‘Elle’ and ‘Vogue’. She got her ‘big break’ when she got featured on the ‘Sports Illustrated’ in a swimsuit in 1978. Her photograph became really famous which featured an innocent Cheryl in a swimsuit. This was followed by a $1.5 million contract with ‘Cover Girl cosmetics’ and an appearance on the cover of ‘Time’ magazine.

Cheryl Tiegs published ‘The Way to Natural Beauty’ in 1980 and began creating signature designs for ‘Roebuck and Co.’ and ‘Sears’. Within a span of one year, Cheryl’s line of sportswear was sold at 700 stores all across the U.S.A. which accounted for $100 million in revenue.
