Wonderful actress and model Rachel Hannah Weisz was born on March 7, 1970 in Westminster, London. Her parents George Weisz and Edith Ruth were Jewish and they immigrated to UK before World War II to escape from anti-Semitism. George Weisz was an inventor, Edith Ruth worked as a teacher.


Rachel has a sister Minnie. Both of them their parents taught to have their own opinion on everything. On evenings, they gathered together in the living room and made debates about different topics.

Rachel Weisz from her early years had a nickname "English rose" due to her appearance. She was very beautiful and when she was just 14 years old, she made first steps as a model. At this age, she appeared in her first film King David (film about the king of the Land of Israel David with Richard Gere in the lead role). Thanks to this role, Weisz was noticed by producers and this led to her further success.

Rachel attended Trinity Hall - constituent college of the University of Cambridge. While was studying at the college, she participated in many student productions and plays. For those productions, Rachel with her friends won Guardian Student Drama Award in 1991.

First serious role of Rachel was in 1992 in the film Advocates II where she played Sarah Thompson. She impressed producers by her professionalism and after this role, she played many other roles in TV series, films and movies, namely: Inspector Morse (1993), Tropical Heat (1993), Scarlet and Black (1993), Death Machine (1995), Chain Reaction (1996), Stealing Beauty (1996), Going All the Way (1997), My Summer with Des (1998) and other.

In 1999, she received the main role of Evelyn Carnahan in a horror film The Mummy, directed by Stephen Sommers. The film was very popular and had more than 400 million dollars box office. For this role, Rachel Weisz was nominated on Saturn Award for Best Actress. Enormous success of The Mummy, inspired Stephen Sommers to create the sequel The Mummy Returns, where Rachel played the same character. The Mummy Returns even more successful in comparison with the first movie, and gathered 430 million dollars box office. This film brought to Rachel her a nomination on Empire Award for Best British Actress.

The most famous role of Rachel Weisz was in 2005, in a thriller The Constant Gardener. She portrayed Tessa Quayle there brilliantly, and won many awards for it: Academy Award, British Independent Film Award, Golden Globe Award, Iowa Film Critics Award, London Film Critics Circle Award, North Texas Film Critics Association Award, San Diego Film Critics Society Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and many others.

Rachel Weisz is a rich person, her estimated net worth is about 30 million dollars. As for private life of Rachel, she had a long relationship with a producer Darren Aronofsky. They separated in 2010 and next year she married to an actor Daniel Craig. Rachel and her husband with their children (Rachel’s son Henry Chance Aronofsky and Craig's daughter) live in New York.
