Julie Powell, a future writer, was born on 20th April in the year 1973. She was born, as well as was raised, in Austin, Texas.

Education

It is known too little about the school education of Julie Powell. However, it is known that she studied at the Amherst College, from which she graduated in 1995. There, she studied two majors – creative writer and theater, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in those specialties.

Career Experience

Before becoming a highly popular writer, she worked for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. While working at her work, Julie Powell decided to start to begin her project, called “The Julie/Julia Project”, at the end of summer in the year 2002. On her blog, she started to write about her attempts to cook dishes from the book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” by Julia Child, since Julie Powell sought to cook every dish from that that recipe book. It comes as a no surprise that the blog attracted a large audience and became increasingly popular.

After the popularity of her page had grown so rapidly, Little, Brown and Company, an old American publishing house, offered Julie Powell a contract to write a book. This way, the contract resulted in a book called “Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Kitchen Apartment”, which was issued in 2005. However, the paperback edition of the book was named as “Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously.” Following the publication, the author got a sharp criticism from the side of Julia Child, who believed that cooking all the dishes from the book was rather a trick, as well as her editor. However, Julie Powell obtained an honorary diploma from the cooking school where Julia Child studied up to 1951, called Le Cordon Bleu.

In addition to that, Nora Ephron, a famous American writer and producer, directed a film “Julie & Julia”, which is based on the Powell’s book as well as the autobiographical book of Julia Child. On 7th August in the year 2009, the movie was released, and Amy Adams there played a role of Julie Powell.

Nonetheless, Julie Powell has not stopped on her first book, and later she published another book under the name “Cleaning: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession.” In her second book, she tells a story about her marriage and how her life changed after the success of her bestseller. There, she reveals the difficulties in her marriage and how she goes to travel to Argentina, Ukraine, and even Tanzania.

Later, Julie Powell said that she is going to write another novel, after receiving a lot of criticisms concerning her last book. Up to date, her net worth is $5 million.

Personal life

Julie Powell married Eric, her husband who has been writing for the magazine called “Archeology”, long time before she actually became famous and successful. However, in her latest book she revealed a lot of facts from her marriage, including cheating, both hers and her husband’s. The book received a large part of sharp criticisms thanks to the publicly disclosed personal affairs. Up to date, the couple does not have children.
