Joey Lauren Adams

American by citizenship, Joey Lauren Adams was born on January 9, 1968 at North Little Rock, Arkansas. Her father owned a Lumber Yard. Joey was raised in Sherwood, Arkansas and in the year 1986, she completed her graduation from North Little Rock Northeast High School.Youngest of the three siblings, she ventured in to acting at a very early stage, when she started performing for the local church productions. During her tenure as an exchange student in Australia, she made up her mind to gear up for acting field.


In order to pursue her acting dreams, she left her home for Los Angeles, while was still a teenager. In 1977, she appeared in a small role in ‘Exorcist II: the Heretic.’ In 1991, she went on to work in short television series, ‘Top of the Heap,’ playing the lead role and then another in 1992, ‘Vinnie and Bobby.’

Her first major role in movies was in the film ‘Dazed and Confused’ in the year 1993. She also did supporting role in the movie ‘Conehead’ in the same year. Next, she went on to work with Kevin Smith in the year 1995 with the film ‘Mallrats.’ She also worked with Jason Bloom on the witty comedy ‘Bio-Dome’ in the year 1996.

‘Chasing Amy (1997),’ again directed by Kevin Smith, gave her a challenging role of a lesbian who falls in love with man; in this movie she was casted opposite Ben Affleck. Adams also sang the title track ‘Alive’of the movie. Chasing Amy gave her one of the most critically acclaimed roles of her carrier. She went on to give brief performances in two more Kevin Smith films, ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)’ and ‘Clerks: The Lost Scene (2004).’ Her projects till 1999 have been of small budget until she bagged a role opposite Adam Sandler in the 1999, a comedy, ‘Big Daddy.’ Afterwards, she has been successful in appearing in short and cameo roles in various movies and short films.

Her career connection with TV shows has been from the starting and she still continues to act on television. Her recent appearance on television was with the episode, ‘Sledgehammer’ of the Grey’s Anatomy as a guest star.

Joey, in 2006, ventured in to direction of movies with the film, ‘Come Early Morning.’ She did shoot the movie against the beautiful back drop of the Little Rock, Arkansas; her birthplace. The cast of the movie included Ashley Judd, Tim Blake Nelson, Diane Ladd, Jeffrey Donovan and Laura Prepon.

Joey Adams has received the 1997 award for the most promising actress in both Chicago film Critics Award and Las Vegas film Critics Award. For her directorial debut she was felicitated with Women in Film Dorothy Arzner Directors Award.

Adams’ personal life is not at all open for public; this fact has only led way for assumptions to arise on her married life, husband and family. At present, she is housed at Beverly Hills, California. Adams has always welcomed work related to acting with open arms, and with her hard work her net worth stands about $2 million.
