James Rolfe

James Rolfe is an actor, filmmaker, comedian and a video game critic, who is highly appreciated both by her critics as well as by fans alike. He is widely known for his role in a web television series called ‘Angry Video Game Nerd’.


Personal Life

James was born on July 10th, 1980, in New Jersey. His mother is Marlene Rolfe and father name is Scott Rolfe. He has one sibling named Gina Rolfe. As a child, his parents bought him a recorder for Christmas present during the 80’s. Later, he got a camera and took some pictures with his peer group. His inspiration for creating adventure stories came from ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and ‘The Legend of Zelda’.

During 1989-1990, Rolfe started making short films and at his University, he took classes for hand-drawn animation. His early films did not have any scripts or the requirement for a rehearsal but once he started writing scripts, his friends gradually lose interest as they have to remember their lines and such pressure are not loved by his friends. He attended the University of the Arts and has a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts. In 2007, James was married to a woman named ‘April Rolfe’ to which they have two children.

Career

Rolfe’s career began when he was in the late 90’s. In 1996, James went ahead to film, a Night of Total Terror. He shot the whole horror film in the backyard of his own house. This film was greatly influenced by his personal life. He also created several films such as B-Horror movies but he did not release it until the tenth anniversary in 2009. He is the producer and the star of web series The Angry Video Game Nerd in which he poorly designated old video games.

His YouTube channel has earned over more than 2.5 million subscribers. In 2004, James got a job editing industrial training videos, which he quit in 2007. His career gained traction in 2004, May when he filmed a five-minute short review of the Nintendo Entertainment System games called ‘ Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest’.

As he started reviewing games on other consoles he changed his name from ‘The Angry Nintendo Nerd’ to ‘The Angry Video Game Nerd’ to avoid trademark issues. Rolfe released ‘Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie’ and acted as the lead star, director, writer, producer, theme songwriter, and editor, in which the film raised a budget of over $325,000 through internet crowdfunding.

In 2008, James posted a fake rivalry video with Doug Walker titled ‘AVGN responds to the Nostalgia Critic’. In other films, Rolfe was featured in a commercial for the Super Bowl, but it never did because of a protest from the Catholic Church. In 2010, he was featured in a low budget movie called ‘Plan 9 from Outer Space’ which was released through video on demand on February 16th, 2016, and then released on physical media in stored on January 5, 2017. His estimated net worth is to be around $100 thousand dollars.
