Career
After trying out a lot of jobs, Funches decided that none of them suited him and he decided to make his hobby, his source of livelihood. So, at the age of 23, Ron Funches began to pursue comedy. Funches had been living in Portland, Oregon for some time but he moved back to his birthplace, Los Angeles in 2012, to succeed further in his career, as a comedian.
He has also done a few films and has been cast in many to shows. He has acted in the 2014 short film, Night with Ron Funches, episodes 1 and 2. In 2015, he acted in three short films, Movie Mind Machine, Get Hard and Hasselhoff. He also had a role in 2016 movie, Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie and also played a voice role in Trolls. His small screen career includes roles in Portlandia, Crash & Bernstein, where he played the role of Roland.
He is also frequently seen on the show @midnight. He is the writer of three shows, the 2014 The Eric Andre Show and The Half Hour and the 2014-15, The Kroll Show. He also appeared in episodes of these shows. His acting careers biggest role was that of Shelly in Undateable which aired on NBC from 2014 to 2016.
He also had roles in many other to shows like Selfie, Bobs Burgers, Enlisted, Drunk History, BoJack Horseman, Cougar Town, The Adventure of Puss in Boots, Great Minds with Dan Harmon, Adventure Time, Another Period, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, The lion Guard, Harmonquest, Home Adventures with Tip and Oh, Transparent, Take my Wife, Black-ish, Drive Share. He has a role as one of the main casts in the 2017 series, Powerless, where he plays the role of Ron.
Personal life
Not much is known about Ron Funches’s childhood. We know that he was born in Los Angeles in California. Not much is known about his father. He was brought up by his mother along with his sister. They lived in Chicago, Illinois. Then, Ron moved from there to Oregon, at 13 years of age, where he started living in Salem. He shifted to Portland later but to further his comedy career, he moved back to Los Angeles, in 2012. Funches has one son who lives with him in Los Angeles.
His son is autistic, but Funches has no qualms about being open about his son’s disability in his comedy. Funches is also an avid gamer. He is very enthusiastic about video games. Another notable thing about Funches is his loss of weight from a previous 360 pounds to a current 220 pounds. Funches is quite active on social network and has a net worth of 500 thousand dollars.
