Michelle Hurd was born on December 21, 1966. Her city of birth is New York City. Her father was Hugh Hurd. Her mother, Adrienne Hurd, practices clinical psychology. She went to school at Saint Ann’s School from where she completed her graduation in 1984. Thereafter, she went on to attend the Boston University and the Alvin Ailey School. After finishing her formal education, she learned theater for a brief while too, at the National Theatre in London.
All of this prepared her as an actress. She began auditioning for roles quite early on in life, and she appeared in an uncredited bit role in Rude Awakening. But her first meaty acting role was in the movie Vanishing Son II.

Almost immediately after her stint with her first acting, she was signed on for a role in the TV series New York Undercover. She appeared in five episodes of the show. Soon after, in 1991, she bagged the role of Dana Kramer in the show Another World. The show ran on for eight years and Hurd appeared in 42 episodes of it.
