Matt Cassel is a quarterback who plays for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL. He has also played with the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and Kansas City Chiefs amongst others. He has the glory of being the only player in the history of NFL to start as a quarterback in his first NFL game without starting out as a quarterback in college. Matt also has the credit of receiving the largest contract worth 14 million USD to extend his contract with the New England Patriots. He attended the University of California and played in the college football team.

PERSONAL LIFE:
Matt Cassel was born as Matthew Brennan Cassel on May 17th, 1982 in Northridge. His parents are Barbara Cassel and Greg Cassel. His mother was a set decorator and she was an Emmy award winner. His parents divorced when he was just 14. Matt has one older brother called Jack, and two younger siblings a brother and sister who go by the name Justin and Amanda respectively. His brothers have also played professionally in various teams such as Houston Astros, San Diego Padres and the Chicago White Sox farm system.
In 1994, Matt’s home was at the epicenter of a massive earthquake in Northridge. Although their house had to be condemned the family managed to escape unhurt. Matt is married to Lauren Killian, who he had been dating for a long time. His wife is a former Volleyball player at USC. Fellow NFL player Carson Palmer was his best man at the wedding. On December 8th 2008, Matt’s father Greg Cassel passed away.
CAREER:
While in USC, the talented quarterback did not encounter many matches where he could display his skills! Despite that he earned a place in many NFL drafts after his workout at USC’s Pro day in 2005. Norm Chow, who is the present Tennessee Titans coordinator was also Matt’s USC coach. He wanted to sign Matt as a free agent for the NFL in 2005. However New England Patriots had drafted Matt favoring him over several top ranked players.
Matt continued to play for the New England Patriots and was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance on Monday Night Football. In 2009, the player was traded by the New England Patriots to Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL Draft, 2009. He was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2013. The same day he was released by the City Chiefs he was taken in by the Minnesota Vikings.
In 2015, the Minnesota Vikings traded him to Buffalo Bills. Later that year, the Bills traded him to Dallas Cowboys. Currently, Matt plays for the Tennessee Titans. During his career since 2001, Matt has won several honors and awards in the NFL. He was awarded the AFC Champion in 2007 He was awarded the AFC offensive player of the week twice in 2008. He was also awarded the AFC player of the month in 2010. In 2013, he was honored with the FedEx Player of the week during the week 15 of 2013 NFL.
