Jim Rose is a very popular American sportscaster and host. He has been hosting for ABC 7 Chicago, affiliate of ABC since 1982. Over the years, he has garnered a huge fan following for his unique style of presenting. He currently hosts the highest rated 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm newscasts. Besides sports, Rose also stars in ABC’s Emmy award winning show Heart and Soul.

PERSONAL LIFE:
Jim Rose was born on July 5th, 1953 in an African American household. The anchor attended the Rhode Island College where he graduated with a mass communications bachelor’s degree. The anchor’s first stint with hosting came when he was serving the US army back in 1973. He was working as a sports director in West Germany for AFN TV. The popular host met his future wife in Cheryl Burton when she was a cheerleader for the Chicago Bears.
The couple dated for a while and tied the knot in 1985. The couple were married for a long time between 1985-1995 after which they separated. Rose then met Lakesha Draine and married her in 2011. The couple recently purchased a three storey stand-alone house in Logan Square for a whopping 805,500 USD. The host is the father of two children, Suzette Rose and Jayson Rose. He also has a grandchild by the name of Cora Rose. Rose is very active on Twitter and regularly updates his feed to remain connected with his fans. During his leisure time, he enjoys doing woodworking projects at home.
CAREER:
After his stint with the US army working as a sports director in West Germany, Jim Rose returned to the United States and joined WIXT-TV as a host. This TV station was based out of Syracuse in New York. After this, he moved to ABC 7 Chicago also known as WLS TV and has been working as a prime time news reporter and sports caster from 1982.
In addition to being a sports caster, he also stars in their Emmy award winning TV series Heart & Soul. This series is about the African American community living in Chicago and it portrays their strong heritage and culture. Rose also hosts the broadcasting of the Bud Biliken Parade. He also co-hosts the Chicago Auto Show, a very popular live auto show on ABC. The famed host is also an acclaimed philanthropist.
He strives very hard to use his image as a popular figure to alleviate his African American community. He is also the Vice president of Swan Group. Their motto is to provide a house to single mothers with a terrific academic record belonging to the African American community. The funding for this group was raised through sweat equity. After four and a half years of toil, the group was finally able to give the house to a single mother with 3.8 GPA. The host claims that the experience has been one of the most fulfilling and heart wrenching experiences ever in his life. Rose continues to involve himself in a lot of charitable activities in and around Chicago.
