Mara Schiavocampo

Mara Schiavocampo was born in 1979 and she is an American journalist who worked for the ABC News. She is an anchor for the Early Today at the NBC for the First Look of MSNBC. Before leaving nbc, she worked as a correspondent based in New York.  She received his degree from the University of California in Los Angeles and her master’s degree in the University of Maryland College Park.


Mara Schiavocampo worked for The Oprah Winfrey Show, Uptown, Ebony Magazines, NPR, Yahoo, Current TV, CBS News and ABC News. She worked with the NBC News since 2007 up to 2013, she was an anchor and digital correspondent for Early Today and an anchor for First Look of MSNBC for three years in the NBC.

Mara Schiavocampo’s husband is Tommie Porter and they had a daughter together called Nina Isabella Porter who was born in 2011. Her family lives in the New York City in Harlem neighborhood.  She is a biracial with an African American mother and an Italian Father.

Mara is known to be a multi platform journalist and she started her career in the CBS internship. She had brought new prospective while working at NBC. She does not only work in the reporting but she has also other skills like blogging, still photos shooting, , producing and video editing.

Before, she wanted to continue her career in the Science and she realized that she liked writing better and she become more interested and she chose a career in Journalism. She is married and she is fluent in many languages such as Italian, Arabic, French and Spanish. She likes to tour the world and she has visited almost each continent. She lived in Somalia, Philippines and Italy.

Before she started to work for NBC News, she was working for other TVs and websites. She works in different capacity in the NBC News as Weekend Nightly News, Nightly News, Weekend Today and Today Show.  She has covered most of the major breaking news of her time such as Haiti Earthquake, 2008 presidential election and Gulf Oil Spill.

She got an Emmy Award because of her work for the 2008 Presidential election. She got other awards such as Award of National Association of Black Journalists’ Emerging Journalist.  She has 7 Telly Awards and the Award for  Outstanding Hard News Award of New York State Broadcaster  Association.  She had featured in Marie Claire Magazine at the Top List of women. She was named by the television Week as The Next generation of the Television News stars.

Mara Schiavocampo was called Marie Claire Magazine for Diane Sawyer because of her extensive coverage of the major news stories. She likes to work as a host and she has powerful public speaking skills. She is well known and she has featured in the Neiman Foundation for Harvard University.  She also hosted Al Sharpton’s Triumph Award of 2010 to 2011.

Mara Schiavocampo is an author of an inspirational book on her weight loss journey and how she found peace of mind, happiness and good health after she was able to shed some pounds.
