Born on September 24, 1945, to father Frank Dobbs and mother Lydia Mae, in Childress County situated in Texas, United States of America, Lou Dobbs birth name is Louis Carl Dobbs. He spent his early childhood days in Childress County but later moved to Rupert situated in Idaho, the United States of America along with his family after the failure of his father’s business. He did his initial schooling from the Minico High School situated in Minidoka County, Idaho, United States of America. During his school days, he was an all-rounder and was also elected as the president of the student body. He was also a skilled and amazing player of football. He then went on to do a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Harvard University and graduated in the year 1967 from there.


After finishing his degree at the Harvard University, he went on to become a part of the anti-poverty programs. After that, he went on to study at the UI College of Law situated in Moscow situated in Idaho, United States of America. After graduating from there, he started working for a bank named Union Bank of California. He then started working as a police officer in Arizona. He began his television career in the year 1980 when he joined CNN as a host and correspondent.

He became anchoring the show Moneyline and also became the executive vice president there. During his tenure at CNN, he also established the CNN financial news and anchored Business Unusual. After working in CNN for a long time, he quit his job there in the year 2000 owing to a conflict with its then president. He then launched Space.com after his dismissal from CNN. In the year 2001, he rejoined CNN and became the anchor of the Lou Dobbs Reporting and Lou Dobbs Moneyline. He gained a lot of popularity and fan following due to these shows.

During one of the episodes of the Lou Dobbs Tonight in the year 2009, he announced that he is going to leave CNN. After working for thirty years on the CNN network, he then started working for the United Stations Radio Network in the year 2009 and started hosting the Lou Dobbs Radio show. During his time there, he was also working for the Money magazine and New York Daily News as a columnist. In the year 2011, he started hosting the show Lou Dobbs Tonight which aired on Fox Business Network.

Talking about his personal life, Dobbs is married to Kathy Wheeler and the couple got married in the year 1969. Their relationship didn’t last for much time and the relationship ended in divorce. He got married in the year 1982 again with Debi Segura. Dobbs and his wife are proud parents, six children. There are rumors that Dobbs wanted to get a divorce from Debi as well when he became aware of the fact that she was of Mexican origin. He was highly criticized for his opinions on his wife’s origin.
