Kris Holden-Ried was born on August 1, 1973 in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. He was raised in his hometown by his family. He was interested in acting from his early childhood, inspired by old movies. He attended a local school in Pickering. During his school years he was a sportsman and strong athlete. Kris actively took part in various sports events and defended the honor of the school. He also earned silver medals by taking a part in the Pan American and Pan Pacific Pentathlon Championships. Besides Holden-Ried also was a Canadian champion in equestrian riding and fencing. After school Kris studied in the School of Buisiness at Concordia University in Montreal. In order to realize an old childhood dream he trained in Master Class Scene Study by Uta Hagen. Then he studied in Green Room Actor's Workshop and the National Film Acting School. He was blessed with exceptional acting skills and was ready for action.

Afterwards he began his acting career in the 1995, by very first audition and first leading role in the drama movie “Young Ivanhoe”. The film based on novel by Sir Walter Scott, so Kris gets some popularity and continued his work on that way. In the 1997 he appeared in the horror movie “Night of the Demons 3” with a main role of Vince. To improve his acting skills, Kris spent many time in acting schools for becoming a real famous Canadian actor.
During 1997-2000 he was starred in the CBC soap opera “Riverdale” by playing Shawn Ritchie. He also took a part in soap opera “Paradise Falls” by playing Simon in the 30 episodes of the show, during 2001-2004. He played a secondary role of Anton in the drama movie “K-19: The Widowmaker” in the 2002. At the same year Kris also appeared in the thriller “A Killing Spring”. In the 2007, he got the role of William Compton in the seven episodes of popular Showtime series “The Tudors”. He also appeared in the first episode of the popular Canadian detective TV series “Murdoch Mysteries” in the 2009 as Prussian Kaspar.
He got his breakthrough role in TV series “Lost girl”, where he played detective Dayson along with co-starred actress Anna Silk. The main role in the long project (2010 - 2015) brought to him a huge level of fame. In the 2013 he appeared in thriller movie “The Returned” as Alex and in the comedy film “Sex after kids”. Kris also voiced one of the characters - Crawford Starrick, on the popular video game “Assassin's Creed: Syndicate”.
