Rick Harrison was born in Davidson, North Carolina on March 22, 1965. He is known as a reality television personality and a famous businessman of Las Vegas. He is well known as co- owner of World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop. He co- owns this Pawn Shop with his father. Rick Harrison and his father Richard Benjamin Harrison opened the pawn shop in 1989. He dropped out of the high school in order to pursue 2000 dollars a week business which is selling the fake Gucci bags.


He was the third child of his father. In the year 1967 Richard Harrison was transferred to San Diego, California and the entire family moved with him. At the age of 8, Harrison suffered from epileptic seizures which confined him to his bed leading him towards a lifelong love of reading. He became addict of series of books The Great Brain by John D. Fitzgerald. In the story a ten year old Utah con artist having the ability to conjure up money making schemes greatly attracted and influenced Harrison. In general Harrison became a book lover and in particular he was inclined towards the books related to history and physics. He attended the Taft Middle School which had been the part of San Diego Unified School District. Unfortunately he was dropped out from the school when he was in tenth grade.

In April 1981, Harrison family was moved to Las Vegas, Nevada after his parents experienced collapse in their real estate business. Kim, girlfriend of Harrison, became pregnant when he was only of 17. Despite a subsequent miscarriage both decided to marry. After the birth of their second child the couple split. Then he and Tracy, the second wife of Harrison, accept the responsibility to raise the children.

The Gold & Silver Pawn Shop was opened in 1989 and by 2005 both the father and son were loaning out almost 3 million dollars each year. That brought them around $700,000 in interest income. In 2006 Harrison became a pawn broker in Las Vegas. According to a statement of Harrison, in the year 2010, most of the items brought in the store are jewellery items. In the same year National Pawnbrokers Association awarded Harrison for being the pawnbroker of the year.

Harrison tried hard to make a show regarding pawn shop but could not succeed. But in January 2011 Pawn Stars became the highest rated program on History Channel as well as the second highest rated reality program. In July 2014 game show named Pawnography premiered on History Channel.

Besides a smart businessman, Harrison has another reason of fame; he is a successful author. He published a biography, in 2011 named License to pawn: deals, Steals and My Life at the Gold & Silver. On June 26, 2011 this book got the position of #22on ‘The New York Times Best Seller list’.

Harrison has two sons named, Corey and Adam from first marriage and one son named Jake with his second wife.
