Tamra Cantore is the ex-wife of the television personality Jim Cantore, who presented news for The Weather Channel. She is best known now as the woman who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 40 years. Once this shattering discovery was made, she founded Team Cantore, a support group for people who are facing similar medical issues as she was. She works with Team Cantore to spread awareness about the disease because she believes in the motto that only the right kind of information can help people stay away from this degenerative disease.

Early Life
Tamra Cantore was born in America. Not much is known about her early life and her schooling but she is well-educated. She soon got a job with the Weather Channel as an on-air personality and drew a handsome salary. This established her career and here she met the meteorologist Jim Cantore, whom she fell in love with and married. Jim Cantore was the weather reporter who spoke about the weather and indicated storms and gave other such warnings of natural calamities.
The marriage took place in 1990. The two of them had a happy married life and soon welcomed a daughter into the family in 1993 whom they named Christina Cantore. In 1995, they gave birth to another child. This time it was a son whom they named Ben Cantore.
The two of them lived happily for several years with their two children, but then irreconcilable differences crept into their marriage. Finally, the couple separated in 2007 and obtained a divorce from each other.
Diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease
Tamra Cantore was once misdiagnosed with the disease in 1997. This was an initial warning of sorts. The diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease was confirmed on her 40th birthday itself. This was the nasty gift she received on this important birthday of her life. Parkinson’s is a degenerative disease and there is no cure known for it yet. The news shattered her, but she had no other option but the keep up the pace of her life.
Despite this diagnosis, Tamra Cantore continued to work. She kept up her professional and her personal life and even took care of her family. She was on medications now, but she continued with her passion of sports, though a bit diminished now, and led a healthier lifestyle. The degenerations started taking place a few years later, and instead of giving up to them, Cantore decided to fight it back as well as she could.
Founding Team Cantore
Tamra Cantore founded Team Cantore to increase the awareness of the release of the Parkinson’s disease, and hopefully to find methods to fund the research for a cure. The organization has received some support from Parkinson’s Unity Walk and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. In a few years, she managed to raise about $550,000.
Though she has obtained a divorce from Jim Cantore, he continues to support Team Cantore. He speaks about it and contributes to it as well as to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. A part of his net worth of $3.5 million is earmarked for such charitable contributions.
More information about Team Cantore can be found on Flickr and other social media platforms where it is being prominently advertised.
