Gabrielle Allyse Reece, then a future professional athlete, actress, and model, was born on 6th January in the year 1970. She drew the first breath in California’s La Jolla in the family of Robert Eduardo Reece and Terry Glynn. Even though she was born in California, Gabrielle Reece was raised by her parents in Saint Thomas, one of the Virgin Islands under the U.S. jurisdiction. Her father was of an Afro-Trinidadian descent, and he died in a plane catastrophe when Gabrielle had been just 5 years old.


Education

Gabrielle returned to the country’s mainland and enrolled in the St. Petersburg’s (Florida) Keswick Christian School, where she set to go into sports. Later, Gabrielle studied in the Florida State University with a major in Communications, and she debuted in the university volleyball team already at that time, after receiving a volleyball scholarship.

Career Experience

Her debut for the university volleyball team had been more than successful, since Gabrielle broke two records of the university – total blocks (747) and solo blocks (240). Both of the records are not broken yet up to now.

In 1989, the young athlete decided to settle in New York City, where she attempted to go for a career of the model while continuing her volleyball career. In 1997, Gabrielle Reece was included in the university’s Hall of Fame for her incredible achievements in sports.

After graduating from the university, Gabrielle Reece proceeded to play volleyball professionally in various tourneys. Her career had progressed rapidly, and she, along with her team consisting of 4 players, won the Beach Volleyball World Championship, which took place the first time ever then. At that time, she had been the captain of the team, which took part in the Women’s Beach Volleyball League, for five seasons.

In the period between 1993 and 1996, Gabrielle Reece achieved even bigger success. In particular, she was a leader in kills in the BVWC then. In addition, she held the titles of the League’s leader in block and the Offensive Player of the Year in 1993 and 1994-1995 respectively. Gabrielle Reece also participated in a number of domestic tournaments, such as the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour or the Olympic Challenge Series, both of which took place in 1999 and 2000. Later, she attempted to be engaged in golf professionally, but could not do it due to the lack of time.

Meanwhile, her career of the model had been quite successful as well. In 1989, “Elle” named Gabrielle Reece as one of the world’s most beautiful women. She appeared on the covers of such magazines like “Life”, the above-mentioned “Elle”, “Women’s Sports & Fitness”, “Playboy”, “Shape”, and “Outside.”

Gabrielle Reece is also known for her work as an actress and author of the books. In particular, she published “Big Girl in the Middle” (1997) and “My Foot Is Too Big for the Grass Slipper: A Guide to the Less Than Perfect Life” (2013). She appeared in numerous movies, TV shows, and TV series. Up to date, her net worth is believed to be $10 million.

Personal life

Gabrielle Reece married Laird Hamilton, a surfer, on 30th November in the year 1997. They have two children: daughters named Brody Jo Hamilton (who was born in 2008) and Reece Viola Hamilton (born in 2003). However, they also raise a child, named Izabela, of Gabrielle’s husband from the previous marriage.

The height of Gabrielle Reece is quite outstanding: 1.91 meters or 6’ 3’’.
