This made him to get the football scholarship for the University of Georgia. Even if he was the star in these fields, he decided to continue acting with poetry and he was minored in the theater. Hardwick is the member for the fraternity called Alpha Phi Alpha.

After graduating, he was not chosen to join the NFL and he tried to join NFL San Diego Chargers. When he was struggling to be an actor, he was doing odd jobs so that he can pay the acting classes. After being unsuccessful, he was living in his own car until he was able to get a break of starting in Sucker Free City. Afterwards, he got the role in The Guardian and in Saved. For such role, he had to train as a paramedic and a fireman. In 2003 and in 2004, he was among the participants of National Poetry Slam. In the year 2010, he became the founding member for the Plan B inc Theater Group.
