This biography provide information about Lester Holt who was born 8 March 1959 in Marin County, California. His family include his father, Lester Bolt Sr. and mother, June Holt. In 1982 Lester married to Carol Hagen and is now having two son namely Stefan Holt and Cameron Holt. His wife Carol Hagen is in real estate by profession. But there was rumours that he and his wife are going to separate. His ethnicity can understood as his maternal grandparents belonged to Jamaica and his maternal grandfather was half English and half Indian.


Holt got his graduation degree from Cordova High school in Rancho Cordova, California and then got admission in California State University but never got graduated as he entered in government. He used to work at radio station during his college years. In 2012 he in interview with American Profile news magazine told that his first job was as disc jockey but he wanted a full time gig so he landed in reported news.

Holt started his journey with CBS in 1981 and spend 19 years working with CBS since he was selected as reporter for WCBS-TV in New York City. Holt spend 14 years anchoring evening news for WBBM-TV since 1986. Holt also used to report news risky spot around the world like Somalia, Iraq, Northern Ireland, Haiti and Many more. In 2000 Lester joined MSNBC. In 2003 he used to work for full-time at NBC News as substitute anchor of NBC nightly News and Today. Until fall of 2005 he used anchor two hour’s daily broadcast for MSNBC. IN 2009 Lester joined for anchoring weekly edition of Nightly News and as current host of NBC’s Dateline. He was also seen hosting a special of The History Channel about 9/11 conspiracy theories. He was recently seen moderating presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Initial Trump opposed Holt saying that he is a democratic but Lester is registered in political party of Republican. But once debate was completed Donald trump appreciated Holt for doing a good job, along with Trump reporters from all over the world appreciated Holt.

Apart from reporting news and hosting shows he was also seen doing cameo in movie, The Fugitive in 1998. He was also seen acting movies like U.S.Marshals and Primal Fear. He was also seen in TV shows namely Due South, Warehouse 13 and Early Edition. He was also seen doing voice-over for in episode “Sandwich Day”. He announced Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show for USA Network in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He used pursue interest in music and travel other than reporting. Lester Holt was paid yearly salary of $4 million by NBC news and has net worth of $12 million.

He has won many awards and has being honoured with many degree for his work. In 1990 he was awarded Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award. He was honoured with Honorary Doctorate in 2012 and 2015 from Pepperdine University and California State University respectively. In 2015 he also introduced in the California Hall of Fame.
