America is well known for some of the best television anchors and broadcasters and they have left their impact quite strongly over the past many years. Chris Wallace is one such name and he is today remembered as one of the most successful in this field. Born on October 12th, 1947 he is the television anchor and also the host of the famous Fox Broadcasting Company and Fox News Channel.

Chris was born in Chicago, Illinois. His father was the famous Mike Wallace who rose to fame because of the highly popular 60 minutes CBS show. His mother is Norma Kaphan. He is Jewish because both his mother and father were Jewish by birth. However, his childhood was not exactly very smooth because his parents divorced when Chris was just one year old.

Chris had to grow up with his mother and stepfather who was none other than Bill Leonard former President of CBS News. He stayed away from his biological father till he was fourteen years old. Since, he was closely attached to Bill Leonard, it gave him a chance to be associated with journalism from a relatively young age. He got his first exposure in journalism when he was just seventeen years old.

Personal Life

He has had two wives in his life. His first wife was Elizabeth Jane Farrell whom he married in 1973. He had four children out of his first marriage. Though there are no details about is divorce with his first wife, they are no longer together. His personal life also saw him getting married to Lorraine Smothers in 1997. She bore two children with Chris and their names were Remick Smothers and Sarah Smothers.

Career

Chris began his network journalism with NBC in the year 1975 and he continued with them for fourteen years. He was placed at New York City and was working as a reporter for WNBC TV. He later got promoted to the Washington Bureau of NBC and worked as a political correspondent. He has also worked with ABC since 1989. His career high point came when he reported the Iraqi Scud missile attacks from Tel Aviv. He left ABC in 2003 and joined Fox News Channel. His tenure with Fox has seen him hosting the famous Fox News Sunday and since Chris Wallace has been conducting it, it certainly has been having a raging reception.
