Chris Hansen

Chris Hansen’s full name is Christopher Edward Chris Hansen and he was born in 1959. He is an American television journalist and he is known because of his work on the Dateline NBC and in particular the former segment of To Catch the Predator and this revolved in catching the potential internet sex predator by the use of the sting operation. He is active on social media including twitter.


He attended the Brother Rice High School in the Bloomfield Hills in the Michigan and he became the reporter in the Lansing of the NBC affiliate WILX during the year 1982 and during the senior year of the Michigan State University. He reported for the WFLA in the Tampa and in the various radio stations or in the newspapers in the Michigan, WDIV or in the WXYZ.  He is the investigative reporter and also an anchor from the 1988. During May 1993, Hansen did join the NBC News like a correspondent for a News Magazine, Now With Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric. He stopped to work for the network in the year 2013.

While Chris Hansen was working like a reporter for the Dateline, he covered Columbine massacre from the Oklahoma City Terrorist Attack with Unabomber with the TWA Flight 800 disaster with the investigative reports on the Indian Child slave labor with the counterfeit prescription drug sale from China. Hansen is responsible for many coverage of dateline such as the September 11 attacks or in the stories of the terrorist groups or for the operation of the Al-Qaeda. He had also worked for the exclusive report that details the attempt of France 1994 terrorist attack.  He had series about the lack of the security on the airport which led to the formation of the Federal Aviation Administration which opens the investigation or ultimately revising of the policies.  

Together with the Perverted-Justice, Hansen had to host the series of the Dateline NBC reports under a title called to Catch the Predator. The volunteers were from the Perverted Justice impersonated the underage people in the chat rooms and they agreed to meet with the adults to have sex. The meeting place was called the sting houses and the cameras of the crew of the NBC were always there.  In the last episodes, the local police were being awaiting the sexual predator.  In order to capitalize at the success of the Hansen or on the Predator investigation, the Dateline NBC had created the three Tuesday night for the spin-offs for the original concept. Hansen had hosted To Catch the Con Man with To Catch an ID Thief. He is the author of the book To Catch a Predator: Protecting Your Kids from Online Enemies Already in Your Home.  He is married to Mary Joan Hansen and the couple has two sons, the family live in the Connecticut. 

Chris Hansen got many Emmy Awards and four were from Edward R Murrow Awards, the clarion awards, Overseas Press Club Award and the IRE. He has a net worth of 2.5 million and most of his salary was gotten from catching the predators while they had their pants down.
