Robert Quinlan “Bob” Costas was born on March 22, 1952 on the borough of Queens in New York. Bob is of Irish and Greek descent and he grew up in Commack, New York. He graduated from Commack High School South and then majored in communications from the Syracuse University. Later he acquired nominal degree from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While attending the Syracuse University he served as an announcer for the Syracuse Blazers hockey team for the Eastern Hockey League and North American Hockey League thus starting his broadcasting career.


He then moved to KMOX Radio as play presenter American Basketball Association playing team Spirits of St. Louis in 1974 as well as presented call-in program Open Line. He mostly contributed to Loose Balls: The Short, Wild Life of the American Basketball Association. He worked as presenter of 1979-1980 NBA seasons on behalf of WGN-TV. He also was part-time employee for CBS Sports coverage of CBS NFL, CBS NBA as presenter for 3 years. Bob then moved to NBC as studio presenter of National Football League, National Basketball Association and also Major League Baseball. He in different era of time has presented Kentucky Derby, U.S. Open golf tournament, Kentucky Oaks etc.

As mentioned above, he has covered news from 9 Olympics from 1992 to 2012. From 1986 to 1996, Bob anchored radio show Costas Coast to Coast. The show was on aired on more than 200 radio stations till 2009. He again was seen presenting another talk show namely Later with Bob Costas from 1988 to 1994 on NBC. He has spent many days and night taking to his guests on many major topics. He has been admired for his brilliant interviewing skills all around. The longest interview ran for four regular nights with guest Mel Brooks in 1991. Bob currently works as newscaster of Rock Center with Brian Williams where he hosted assistant coach of Pennsylvania State University, as he was found guilty for minor sexual abuse. Apart from this, he was borrowed by HBO to present On the Records with Bob Costas.

Then he started as co presenter of Inside the NFL of HBO. He to join MLB network left HBO in 2009. In MLB Network, he worked as facilitator where he hosted many of the sports related shows and talk shows. Bob is seen in few television series like time for Champion, Baseball, The 10th inning etc. He from different media network got the average salary of 5 million dollar per annum. Bob Costas’ net worth is estimated to be around $45 million. As to the personal life in his biography, he till today has married twice. He got divorced to his previous wife after 18 long years of marriage. From his first wife side, he has two children namely Keith and Taylor. In 2004, he again got married to Jill Sutton and the happy couple lives in St. Louis.
