Amy Marie Yasbeck was born on September 12, 1962 in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash, Ohio to Dorothy Louise Mary and John Anthony Yasbeck. Her mother was a homemaker and father was a butcher and grocery store owner. Her father was of Lebanese descent, while her mother was of Irish ancestry. She attended different Catholic schools during her young years, at first she studied at Summit Country Day School and then she attended Ursuline Academy. After her parents died she moved to New York City.


Amy was featured on the package art for the Betty Crocker Easy-Bake Oven at the young age. In the beginning of her acting career she appeared in TV series pilot “Rockhopper”, that was unsold CBS from 1985. She also was portrayed Olivia Reed during 1986 - 1987 on the long-running daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. In the 1988 she appeared as the mermaid in the Disney television film “Splash, Too”.

She has had guest-starring characters in many TV shows include “Pretty Woman”, “The Mask”, “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”, “Dracula: Dead and Loving It”, “Dallas”, “Spies”, “Werewolf”, “J.J. Starbuck”, “China Beach” and “Murphy Brown”. In the in 2000, she was presented again with a new Easy-Bake Oven on the show I've Got a Secret, for which she was a regular panel member. Amy also appeared as the mother of one of the main characters, Chelsea in the sitcom “That's So Raven” in the 2006. The next year she had plans to take a part in the spin-off of “That's So Raven”, but later the show was closed and she takes a little break from acting to focus on her family. In the 2010 Amy was involved in the show “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” as a contestant. In the same year she appeared in TV series “Hot in Cleveland” with a episodic role of Hailey Nash. In the 2014 she played role of Diana Malkin in the popular TV series “Bones”.

She was dating with actor John Ritter. They met during the filming of “Problem Child” at director Dennis Dugan's house in the 1990. In the 1998 the couple got their child, beautiful daughter Stella Ritter. The next year Amy and John finally married. They both were appeared in such projects like “The Cosby Show” and “Wings”. Currently she is a widow, her husband John Ritter died on September 11, 2003 it was his daughter's fifth birthday. The cause of death was truly an aortic dissection stemming from a before undiagnosed congenital heart defect. After her husband's death Amy filed a lawsuit against the hospital where John died. Along with her stepchildren, from Ritter's previous marriage she claimed that the doctors at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank misdiagnosed the heart condition that cost Ritter his life. There is no information that she was remarried, it seems like she is single now. Three years later the suit was settled out of court. According to some sources, she has a net worth of $5 million dollars.
