Her work has also been shown at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, Florida; the San Diego Art Institute; St. Mark’s Church-in-the-Bowery in New York City; and State of the Arts ‘98 in Oregon. Her work has been selected for national juried exhibitions, and she is the recipient of three artist grants from The Northampton Cultural Council, part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Susan has also written a three part series of the Industrial landscapes “Susan Mikula: American Bond”.
Susan is the common law wife of Rachel Maddow. They both are lesbian. They met with each other in the 1999 when Rachel was hired by Susan to do the yard work at her home. Their first date was at the National Rifle Association “Ladies Day on the Range” event. At that time Rachel was studying and working on the doctoral dissertation. Rachel Maddow is a TV host, author and political commentator who hosts a nightly TV show known as The Rachel Maddow Show on the MSNBC. Susan and Rachel are not married yet.
