Sarah "Huffy” Huffman was born on March 5, 1984 in Danbury, Connecticut. She was raised in Flower Mound, Texas. Sarah studied at the Marcus High School. Afterwards, she enrolled in the University of Virginia.


She started her career of midfielder in the 2002 for the university team “Virginia Cavaliers”. During this time Sarah was named Soccer Buzz All-American as well as Soccer America MVP, and NSCAA All-American. Sarah was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2004, after she helped to her team to win their first conference championship. During three years, she showed good results and in the 2007 she joined “Washington Freedom Reserves” team. And during the year she was a W-League champion team member until she joined the Norwegian club “Røa IL” in the 2008. She helped to win the Norwegian Women's Cup.

The next year Sarah became a team member for “Washington Freedom”, where she played till 2011. In the 2011 she signed a deal with women’s professional soccer club “MagicJack”. The next year she played for “Pali Blues” team from Los Angeles. With her big help the team finally undefeated the season and got their the Western Conference championship title. She got another position in the 2013, when she joined “Western New York Flash” team. In the 2014 she became a team member of “Portland Thorns”, it was the last soccer team, where she played for her professional career. Sarah ended her brilliant collegiate career with 12 goals and 28 assists. She announced about her retirement from professional soccer on November 18, 2014.

During her brilliant career way she also was involved in the National team. She spent two years by playing for the “United States U-19” team from 2000 till 2002. Sarah helped National team win the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship. In the 2003 Sarah joined to the “United States U-21”, where she played about four years. Thanks to her skills, U-21 team won on the Nordic Cup in the 2004, 2005 well as in 2007.

In the 2010 she finally appeared in the major National team of the United States. Sarah was honored with numerous awards. She was named Virginia State Player of the Year and as well as finalist for Soccer Buzz National Player of the Year. After a successful professional soccer career, she tried herself as a coach and was a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, University of Virginia.

She is a bisexual. Sarah Huffman is married to her longtime girlfriend Abby Wambach. Their wedding was on October 5, 2013 in Hawaii. Recently in the 2016 in a new interview she announced that she and her wife Abby are divorcing. / She is a very private person and does not expose her relationship, regarding her boyfriend, husband and so on. Currently, she resides in Portland, Oregon, in her own house, which she bought earlier along with her ex-wife Abby. Her net worth is still under evaluation.
