Early Life
Sara was born as Sara Rebecca Abeles on 29 January 1975 at St. John Hospital & Health center, Santa Monica, California. She was born to Harold Abeles and Barbara Cowan. Sara is an American national and her ethnicity is Ashkenazi Jewish.
Her maternal grandfather is the maker of the famous sitcom “The Honeymooners” and grandmother was a popular dancer who was titled as Miss Brooklyn back in her time. Sara uses the last name of Paul Gilbert, her mother’s first husband. She has four siblings and two of her siblings, Jonathan Gilbert and Melissa Gilbert, are also actors and are quite famous for their characters in Little House on the Prairie. Obviously, Sara always wanted to become an actor and follow the footsteps of her previous generations and older siblings.
In terms of education, Sara did her major in Arts and graduated from the Yale University, in the year 1997.

The couple got separated in the year 2011 and later, Sara dated Linda Perry.
