According to his biography, Sam Heughan was born in the city of Balmaclellan in UK in the year 1980s. His mother is called Chrissie Heughan and he became interested into acting when he was still too young. He went to Kells Primary School. He then went at the James Gillespie High School and then continued at Edinburgh Rudolph Steiner School until he finished the sixth year. Afterwards, he attended Royal Scottish Academy of Music and drama in Glasgow and then graduated in the year 2003.

In the year 2004, Sam did appear for the TV miniseries named Island at War when he was Philip Dorr. He also played in the Andrew Murray role in the 2005 TV series of River City. From that time, Sam did appear in different other movies and also in television series. He had appeared in over 15 movies.
Some of these movies are Heart of lightness, Emulsion, When the Starlight Ends, The Wild West, Breaking the Mould, Doctors, Party Animals and First Light.
