Peyton Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on 24thMarch, 1976. A former football quarterback of America, he has the credit of playing 18 seasons in NFL (National Football League). Manning was born to Olivia and Archie as their second son. He perhaps got his athletic traits from father Archie, who was himself a renowned athlete in the South. Young Peyton practiced with Archie from a very early age; when he took this firm determination of becoming one like his father.

Peyton Manning got married to Ashley Thompson in 2001. They knew each other from days when the boy hadn’t even started his college. Most people don’t know much about the wife as she always managed to stay away from public glare. But she has made a few appearances in red carpet events and State Dinner at the honorable White House. However, Ashley Thompson is herself a successful businesswoman owning Memphis Grizzlies. Through her commitment, she ensures that the basketball team has a positive impact on their community. They are now parents of two twin kids, Mosley and Marshall.
His career in college:
Peyton Manning has showed his football skills from the days of his college. He played for University of Tennessee in 1994 only to become the all-time leading passer. In total, he passed with 11,201 yards recording 863 completions. He also connected for total 89 touchdowns. With all these records at a very young age, Manning earned the reputation of a voracious student of football.
His success in NFL:
Manning’s career in National Football League started when he was selected by Indianapolis Colts in 1998. The franchise had a poor luck with number of losses, when they chose Peyton as their rescuer. He played for the team for 13 complete seasons. But unfortunately, he couldn’t play in the entire 2011 season due to a neck injury.
Once fit to play, he returned to the game in 2012 season playing for Denver Broncos through 2015. At the end of 2015 season, Peyton Manning drew a winning percentage (.702) in regular season.
Interesting fact is that the two siblings Peyton and Eli played thrice against each other.The encounters termed as The Manning Bowl were first held on 10th Sept. 2006, second on 19th Sept. 2010 and third on 15th Sept. 2013. Each time Peyton’s team beat Eli’s.
The amount Peyton received:
The player had signed contract of $96 million with Broncos. He enjoyed $18 million fully guaranteed from that agreement. His basic salary for 2013 and 2014 was also guaranteed.
However, he agreed to lessen his base salary of 2015 to $15 million from $19 million. Apart from this, he has endorsements from where he can earn other incentives.
His retirement:
The ace football quarterback announced to the world about his retirement from sports on 7th March of 2016. In his retirement speech, Manning’s final words were “I’ve fought a good fight. I’ve finished my football race and after 18 years, it’s time. God bless all of you, and God bless football.” Everyone can concur that Manning has had a wonderful football career.
