Ornella Muti was born under the name of Francesca Romana Rivella. She was born in the year 1955 in the city of Rome. Her mother was working like a sculptor while her father was working like a reporter. She was born with the twin sister named Claudia. She is of Italian nationality with Russian ancestry. When she reached 10 years old, the father died. When her mother was left alone with her daughters, the family was in financial problems. When she reached the age of 13, she started to look attractive and she was looking older than she is. Even if it was kept away of her mother, she started to pose as a nude to the art school students.
At a certain time, she had the shooting that appeared in the magazines of men. However, everyone saw the photos including the teachers and her mother. This created a scandal that was about to end her studies. However, the school forgave her taking into account the situation of her family.
Claudia was interested in becoming the film star and took Francesca with her to a cast of The Most Beautiful Wife produced by Damiano Damiani. However, Claudia did not get the role but Francesca got the title role. Damiani was the one who suggested that she uses the name of Ornella Muti since there was already an Italian celebrity under the name of Rivella.
She started to play at the age of 14 for The Most Beautiful Wife. She did not become a star at once and continued to appear in the low budget films that had erotic scenes. She became very popular in 1974 and it was in a popular comedy called Romanzo Popolare. She continued her acting career and did appear in La Derniere Femme. The role put him on the same level of Gina Lollobrigida and of Sophia Loren. She appeared also in other movies like I Nuovi Mostri and La Stanza Del Vescovo which strengthened her position.
Besides appearing in the Italian films, she also appeared in European films like Flash Gordon, a sci-fi blockbuster, Cronaca di Una Morte annunciata, Un amour de Swann, Once Upon a Crime and American films comedy named Oscar. Fort the tv shows, she appeared in the Le Comte de Monte Cristo.
