Nathan Lane was born in the year 1956 on February 3rd. He was brought up by his parents along with his two older brothers in Jersey City, New Jersey. He belonged from a lower middle class family as his father, Daniel worked as a truck driver and his mother, Nora worked as a secretary and also took care of the home. She also had the problem of manic depression due to which, she passed away in the year 2000. He felt very lonely after his mother passed away because he was very close to his mother. His father never got enough time to spent with him and thus, he remained with his elder brothers.
He has received a Catholic upbringing from childhood. He believed in religion and went to the church everyday. After his mother, he spent most of his time with his uncle who was a Jesuit priest. He was sent to the St. Peter’s Prepatory High School in the Jersey City. This was a Catholic school and there were also many co-curricular activities which were of much interest to him. From early childhood days, he was interested in drama and theatres. He has also received the award of being the Best Actor in the year 1974. He has always aspired to become an actor but due to the financial crisis of his family, he was unable to fulfil his dreams initially.
He excelled in drama and theatre plays for which he has received a scholarship to go to the Saint Joseph’s University. However, his father was not ready to sent him to Philadelphia as it was a matter of lot of expense and they could not afford it. He had to struggle a lot and go to the New York City and work with the Off-Broadway Productions. As he excelled in theatre plays, he was able to impress everyone soon.
He appeared in many musical videos and albums before making his debut as a lead actor. He worked as a theatre actor for a quite long time. He also came across several directors and producers during his time in the theatres. His appearance in She Stoops to Conquer, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Guys and Dolls, The Lisbon Traviata, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Lips Together, Frankie and Johnny, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum made him very popular.
He made an appearance in The Lion King which was an animated film and was voiced by Timon. He has took part in several Disney shows also. He has also received several nominations and awards for his versatile theatre acting. It has been confirmed from some sources that he is a gay and in the year 2015, he got married to the famous writer and producer Devlin Elliott. The couple dated each other for a long period and is leading a happy married life.
