Margaret Claire Hoover was born on December 11, 1977 in Colorado. Her parents are Andrew and Jean Hoover. He also is a great-granddaughter of Herbert Hoover, who was a 31st president of the United States. She studied at the Graland Country Day School in Denver. Afterwards, she continued her education at the Bryn Mawr College. She graduated in the 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish Literature with a minor in Political Science. Additionally, she studied at the Davidson College for 2 years. During that time she was a member of Warner Hall.


She started her successful career in the White House by working for the administration of George W. Bush, being the part of the Associate Director of Intergovernmental Affairs. She worked as Deputy Finance Director as well as was involved in President Bush's re-election campaign during 2004. Later she joined the team of Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, where she worked as a staffer.

During 2008-2012 she worked as a contributor for the ox News channel. She appeared on The O'Reilly Factor show. In the 2012 she left Fox News and continued her work as a political contributor for CNN. She has made her appearances in numerous popular TV shows like “Good Morning America” on ABC, “Today” on NBC, “MSNBC” and “The Early Show” on CBS.

Additionally to her political career, she also is an advocate for gay rights. In the early 2011 she appeared at the Maryland State Senate on behalf of gay marriage. Her further activity helped to reach a victory during the 2012 battle about gay marriage in New York. She also was a President of American Unity PAC organization, which elects pro-LGBT Republicans in American Congress. In the American Foundation for Equal Rights and GO-Proud she served as an advisory council.

She tried herself an author, and her articles appeared in the Wall Street Journal, as well as in The Daily News. In the 2011 she also published her own book, which was titled “American Individualism: How a New Generation of Conservatives Can Save the Republican Party”.

In the 2010 she has made her appearance in the documentary film “Landslide”. In the 2013 she became a co-founder of the American Unity Fund, which was an organization, dedicated to the freedom for everyone, include gay and lesbian Americans. Margaret is a member of the Overseers at Hoover Institution at Stanford University. She also is on board of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association. She is an active member of the Belgian American Educational Foundation.

She is a married woman. Her husband is John Alvon, who is her colleague. They exchanged their vows with each other in the 2009. They both have one child, named Jack Hoover, who was born in the 2013.
