Margaret Denise Quigley or more commonly known amongst her fans as Maggie Q was born on May 22, 1979 in a family of modest financial background in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was raised with 4 of her siblings. Her father is of Irish and Polish decent and her mother is an Vietnamese immigrant.


Maggie dreamt of becoming an model and then enter the Hollywood from a small age. She attended the Mililani Waena Elementary School, Wheeler Intermediate School and Mililani High School. Even though Maggie got a scholarship she was unable to attend college because of her family's poor economic background. Hoping that she would earn money to fund her education, Maggie left Hawaii.

After getting an advice from a friend, Maggie began modeling in Tokyo at a tender age. After becoming unsuccessful in Moving to Taipei she moved to Hong Kong. Finally luck started to turn for her and she caught the eyes of the legendary Jackie Chan. She was trained intensively by Jackie Chan. She claims that Jackie Chan taught her the importance of professionalism and self performing of her stunts.

She started her TV career with the TV show, House of the Dragon. The show became an instant hit especially in Asia. In 2000, Maggie debuted as Anna in her first film, the model from Hell. Later she starred in the thriller movie, Gen-Y Cops as FBI agent Jane Quigley. Her amazing performance impressed Jackie Chan so much that she was cast alongside him in the movies Midnight Manhattan and Rush Hour 2. From 2002 to 2005 she was cast in movies like Naked Weapon and House of Harmony. In 200 she starred alongside Tom Cruise in the movie Mission: Impossible III which became a huge box office hit. She also appeared as Mai Linh in the movie, Live Free or Die Hard which also starred legendary actor Bruce Willis. Q also starred in the hit game Need for Speed: Undercover as the lead character Chase Linh.

In 2010, Maggie Q starred as the lead character in the TV series, Nikita which aired on CW channel. She garnered mostly positive reviews for her acting. Her character in Nikita earned her the place in TV Guide's lists of "TV's Toughest Ladies" and "TV's Sexiest Crime Fighters". In 2014, she was cast in the movie Divergent and later in its sequel The Divergent Series: Insurgent. Both the films performed exceptionally at Box Office. Q also starred in the drama series, Stalker which was telecasted on CBS. Her role was reprised in the third movie of Divergent series, The Divergent Series: Allegiant.

Maggie is engaged to Dylan McDermott. Her husband Dylan McDermott was also her co-star in the TV series Stalker. The couple does not have any children. Maggie has been a well known activist for animal rights. Maggie is a vegan and spreads awareness among people regarding vegetarianism. She has also been a part of PETA Asia's campaign for vegetarianism. Her estimated net worth is $ 6 Million.
