Laura Govan was born on September 21, 1979 in Oakland, California. She is of Mexican and African-American ethnicity. Laura was raised in a middle class family by the parents of diverse descent and spent all of her childhood in California. She also has siblings, two sisters named Gloria and Lonnie. Her early years were very hard, once she was hit by a car when she was seven years old. Laura was in a coma for three months, and upon awaking, had to relearn everything from walking to talking.

She has been interested in basketball since her high school years, when she actually was a player and scored about 30 points per game. In addition, Laura joined in sports like football, baseball as well as tennis. After high school, she enrolled in the New Mexico State University, where she got a full-ride scholarship. She graduated with a Master's Degree in Sports Psychology after her B. A. Degree in International Business.
Afterwards, Laura was offered a position of women's basketball team head coach for Santa Carla University. Laura declined this offer because she became pregnant with Gilbert’s first baby. Then she was working as a Public Relations officer for the teams like Sacramento Kings and Lakers in Los Angeles State. Being an experienced player in the past, she also was an assistant to popular basketball player Shaq. In 2009, Laura became the subject of controversy because of her work with Shaq. There were some rumors that they both had a love affair, but she denied it in an interview. During her work on basketball business she met her future longtime boyfriend and fiance Gilbert Arena.
Laura got her breakthrough time in the 2011 when she became the cast of the new popular TV show "Basketball Wives: Los Angeles". Afterwards, she decided to choose a career path of a television personality. She also was a fashion model for several popular magazines. She is not married officially yet. She has a relationship with famous basketball player Gilbert Arenas. They met each other in the 2002. The beautiful Laura has four children. She has two daughters Hamiley Arenas, Izela Samaya Arenas and two sons Aloni Arenas, Amani Arenas. Her personal life is a kind of drama. Her fiancé Gilbert, who actually is a father for all of her kids dated with Laura for years, but in the 2014 the couple was split. They had been together for 12 years.
Previously Gilbert gave to Laura engagement ring which was coast about 1 million dollars, after they broke up, he tried to sell it and later Laura was sued for that action. Her sister Gloria was married to another basketball player Matt Barnes and also has twins from him. Her net worth is approximately $10 million dollars. She also has defended a lot money from Gilbert for her four children. Currently, she resides in Los Angeles.
