Julie Chen

Julie Chen was born on 6 January 1970 in New York City. She is a 46 year old famous American News Anchor who also work as producer for renowned Columbia Broadcast System. Name of Julie’s mother is Wan Ling Chen who is a Chinese immigrant. Just like Julie’s mother, Julie’s father is also a Chinese immigrant whose name is Yen Chun Chen. It is said that Julie’s grandfather was a polygamist and he had 11 children from the 9 ladies he married in his life time. Her grandfather lived in rural china but he managed to earn big money. Julie’s parents are now married for more than 50 years. Julie has linguistic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese along with English.

Julie attended her school in New York City till 1987 after which she got admission in University of Southern California. She graduated from the university in 1991 and was awarded with a degree in broadcast journalism along with a degree in English.

In 1991, after completing her graduation, Julie joined ABC news. In ABC news she started dating Gary Donahue but the relationship failed and Julie ended up getting married to Leslie Moonves in 2004. It wasn’t Leslie’s first marriage. He had been married previously and was a divorcee. Julie’s marriage ceremony was held in Mexico. 5 years later Julie gave birth to a baby boy. She name her son as ‘Charlie Moonves’.

Julie once publicised that long ago she underwent blepharoplasty, which is a plastic surgery to correct any irregularity in eye lids. She also accepted that she was not happy about going through the plastic surgery because as per Julie, going through the plastic surgery almost broke her family. Julie at the same time believe that she earned all the fame and money in TV industry only because she went through the corrective plastic surgery.

As mentioned earlier, Julie undertook her first job in 1991 and at that time she was working with ABC news as desk assistance. Because of her hard work and dedication she received her first promotion quite early. She was promoted and given the job of a producer with esteemed ABC news. In 1995 Julie started working for WDTN-TV and over there she was working there as a news anchor. She worked there for 2 years. After which she had to take a break for a surgery.

Julie joined Columbia Broadcast System in 1999 and she hosted a lot of shows there. She was also a news anchor with Columbia Broadcast System. She worked there till 2002. In 2000 she also got an offer to work as a host of reality show, Big Brother which is the U.S. version of the Indian Big Boss. There she had been at the receiving end of heavy criticism as her audience did not like her performance and her audience felt that her work was highly scripted which should not be the case for a reality TV show Julie’s salary is not known but her net worth is estimated to be more than 8 million US Dollars.
