Jon Bernthal was born in the year 1976 on September 20. He was brought up in Washington, D. C. His father Eric Lawrence Bernthal was a lawyer and his mother Joan Lurie was a homemaker. His grandparents belonged from the glamour industry. His grandfather was a professional producer and musician. He was very encouraged by him and wanted to be like him in the future. He was brought up in a Jewish culture from childhood. He had two brother whose name was Thomas and Nicholas.
His father was very strict and wanted his three sons to concentrate on their studies and pursue a good career option. He was educated in a convent school with his siblings. As a student, he was very good and also excelled in the cultural activities of the school. He was very much interested in music but his father did not allow him as he thought that it would effect his concentration from the studies. When he completed his high school education, he went to the Skidmore College in New York. By that time, he had developed a lot of interest towards theatre and music and did not have any interest in his education. He was dropped out from the college and attended the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia.
He took the training at the art theatre for a period and went to the Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theatre Training where he was chosen by the executive director of the university. While giving auditions, he completed took a degree in acting from the American Repertory Theatre in the year 2002. During this time, he appeared in a number of popular plays. He was also awarded for portraying his versatile acting skills on the stage. Due to his huge popularity, he also got the chance to appear in many television series such as How I Met Your Mother, Boston Legal and CSI : Miami. He got a major role in the television series The Class. As the series was cancelled after a year, he appeared in major roles in the films Day Zero and World Trade Center.
In the year 2009, he appeared as a mobster in a comedy film, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. He was seen in a miniseries, known as The Pacific where he played the role of Sgt. Manuel Rodriguez at HBO. Next, he appeared in the comic series The Walking Dead as Shane Walsh. He was also nominated for the Breakout Performance Male Award 2011. In the year 2010, he got married to Erin Angle. The couple has two sons, Billy and Henry and they also have a daughter, Adeline. He is leading a happy married life with his family and there us still no news about any separation or divorce between the couple.
