Personal life
Jamie Dornan’s birth took place on the first of May in 1982 in Northern Ireland. He was raised in the Belfast suburbs by parents Jim Dornan and Lorna Dornan. His father Jim Dornan is a gynaecologist and obstetrician who, in his childhood years, aspired of becoming an actor. Jamie’s mother Lorna was a housewife who sadly passed away with pancreatic cancer when Jamie was sixteen years of age. Jamie has two elder sisters as well who are named Jessica and Liesa.
While the former is a fashion designer based in Falmouth, the latter works for Disney in London! Jamie happens to be a cousin of renowned actress Greer Garson. Both his maternal and paternal grandparents were preachers of Methodist lay.
Jamie attended Methodist College Belfast, wherein he took part in drama and acting and also took keen interest in rugby. He later enrolled himself at the reputed Teesside University but he took a decision to drop out and move to London to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor.
Jamie was in a relationship with actress Keira Knightley for two years starting from 2003 to 2005. He later got engaged to singer-songwriter cum actress Amelia Warner in 2012, whom he met two years before getting engaged. The couple married the following year in Somerset and are blessed with two daughters. The two currently reside in California.
Career
Jamie Dornan’s career in music started when he performed in the folk band called ‘Sons of Jim’ before the band members split in 2008. He started his modeling career before becoming an actor. He modeled for the prestigious brand ‘Abercrombie & Fitch’ in 2003. Following that, he modeled for various fashion retailers and brands including the likes of ‘Hugo Boss’, ‘Aquascutum’ and ‘Armani’. He was highly acclaimed for his modeling work with ‘Calvin Klein’ and ‘Dior Homme’. He was announced as “The Golden Torso” by The New York Times for his modeling.
After trying his luck in music and modeling and succeeding at it, Jamie decided to try acting. His debut film was ‘Marie Antoinette’ which was released in 2006. He portrayed Count Ael Fersen in this film, which was directed by Sofia Coppola.
Later, he enacted as a leading actor in ‘Beyond the Rave’ before making an appearance in the 2009 drama film ‘Shadows in the Sun’. After enacting in various films, Jamie moved on to doing television shows. He started by appearing in ‘Once Upon a Time’ in 2011 in which he portrayed Sheriff Graham. He starred in the Irish drama series called ‘The Fall’ in which he played a series killer named Paul Spector.
