Emmanuel Lewis is a famous American actor who starred as a child actor. He achieved immense fame in the 80s for the titular role he played in the sitcom Webster. He then went on to act in several movies and TV shows right up to the early 2000s.

Early Life and Beginning of Career
Lewis was born on March 9, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York. He did not come from an acting family. His mother, Margaret Lewis, was a computer programmer. However, she was open to him auditioning for shows, and that’s how he started his affair with his acting career. He first contacted the Shuller Talent Agency at the behest of a friend. He was signed on immediately for several commercials. As a child, he has endorsed dozens of products, including Burger King.
His first acting performance was in a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He also appeared on talk shows such as The Phil Donahue Show and The Tonight Show.
Success as an Actor
The TV show Webster happened in 1983, and it was a significant hit right from day one. The audience widely accepted the quirky but appealing character of Webster Long that Emmanuel Lewis played in the show. The show ran for six long years, and Lewis featured in 150 episodes of the show. This show made him a nationwide name.
After the show ended, Lewis did not have much of an acting career, though. The shadow cast by the character of Webster was so profound that it eclipsed all other roles that came his way. However, he did appear in a TV movie called The New Adventures of Mother Goose in 1995 and an episode of Family Matters in 1997. He also appeared in one episode of Malcolm & Eddie in 1999 and One on One in 2005.
Later, age probably caught up with him and changed his appearance and the appeal he had for the audience as a child. His career just drifted away, and the roles dried up.
