Personal Life
Dan Patrick, as he is professionally known, was born on May 15th 1956 in Zanesville, Ohio, U.S.A. His parents, John and Patricia Pugh, had six children. Dan was brought up in Mason, Ohio and attended William Mason high school for his education. He played basketball in school and graduated in 1974. His skills in the sport enabled him to earn a scholarship to the Eastern Kentucky University where he had a two-year study before moving to the University of Dayton to major in broadcast journalism.
At age 25, Dan’s dad succumbed to cancer, and he took on the responsibility. While working at CNN as a presenter, Dan met his wife-to-be, Susan White, who worked as the producer of the CNN show Inside Politics. The two publicized their marriage after a long relationship together. The couple has four children – their son Jack and three daughters; Grace, Molly, Georgia. The father of four enjoys spending time with children. On social media, Dan is quite active, especially on Facebook and Twitter. He once expressed his opinion on twitter concerning women and children policy protection.
Career
Dan’s media career began at WVUD and WTUE radio stations before moving to CNN, as a sports reporter, in 1983. As a reporter at CNN, Patrick mainly focused on sports news related to basketball specifically NBA, World Series, and the Winter Olympics until 1989. From 1989, Dan worked as an anchor at ESPN on the show SportsCenter. On the show, he worked alongside Keith Olbermann, and the two grew to become among ESPN’s popular personnel.
Keith left the show and Dan, after some time, went on to host NBA Nation, a pregame show on ABC. ABC is a broadcasting network integrated with ESPN. Dan later joined Keith Olbermann at NBC Sports to work as co-host of Football Night in America. He left ESPN to become an independent free agent, but the public reacted and speculated on the reasons that could have caused his departure.
After his departure, Patrick signed a deal with Content Factory and was later announced as the senior writer by Sports Illustrated. The sportscaster has been able to make appearances in films due to his friendship with actor Adam Sandler. These films include The Ridiculous 6, Grown Ups, Jack & Jill, That’s My Boy, among others. Dan has been privileged to present the super bowl trophy twice and also made it to the Athletic Hall of Fame back in 2002.
Currently, Dan is involved with The Dan Patrick Show that is broadcasted on TV, radio and via podcast on his website. With him being involved in a number of fields and for the many years, Dan has been able to provide for his family needs.
