Popular by her stage name Da Brat's original name is Shawntae Harris. She was born on 14th April 1974 in Joliet, Illinois of the United States. She is the American born rapper and an actress. She acted in Joliet and Illinois. She spent her childhood with her parents and her sibling Lisa Raye McCoy.

She was well known for her bold attitude and hard look. During the 90's, she was the female to rock the hip-hop. It wasn't an easy journey for the rapper as sexuality was her image. The success of her songs does not only end here. She gave hit singles like Fa All Y'All and Give It 2 You. With these hit singles, she became the first female with the platinum selling album. Her single Funkdafied also went number one on R&B Albums.
She took control of her music in the year 1996 and secured another hit "Sittin' on Top of the World" and " GHETTO lOVE". The album was such a success that it brought her back to the Top 5 R&B chart and TOP 20 Hip Hop.
She was a lady that loved to experiment and in the year 1996, she made her film debut in Kazaam. The bad days landed in Da Brat's life in the year 2000, before the release of her 3rd album, she was attracted for assaulting a woman with the pistol in a night club. Later she confessed her crime and was released after charging fine, probation and community service.
During the same time, her album launched in 2000 in which she posed a sexier role. She made her come back in Mariah Carey's film Glitter and she worked in other movies like Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz in 2003.
She even made her appearance in the VH1 reality series "The Surreal Life and did the remix of the hit single "I Think They Like Me". In her musical career, she collaborated with a lot of artists. She even went to prison for assaulting and made a comeback in 2013 with the single "Is It the Chu". She became the co-host of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. She currently holds the net worth of 1.5 million dollars.
