Cheyenne Nicole Woods

Cheyenne Nicole Woods is an American professional golfer. She is an African-American born on July 25, 1990 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, to Susan and Earl Dennison Woods, Jr. Her father is an elder half-brother of Tiger Woods, the champion golfer. Cheyenne graduated from Xavier College Preparatory in 2008 and from Wake Forest University, North Carolina in 2012. Her grandfather Earl Woods, Sr., her biggest mentor, was her first coach and the credit of her success goes to him. She was in the Xavier College Preparatory golf team and won back-to-back Arizona 5A State Championships in 2006 and 2007. While in Wake Forest University, she played for the Demon Deacons. Cheyenne has bagged more than 30 amateur tournaments.

With a sponsorship’s exemption, she took part in the 2009 Wegmans LPGA. She missed the cut by four strokes. She won the Atlantic Coast Conference championship title in April 2011. After her graduation in 2012, Cheyenne turned professional. It was a good year for her. She qualified for the 2012 US Women’s Open by finishing as co-medalist and made her professional debut at the 2012 LPGA Championships. In August 2012, she was the winner of the SunCoast Ladies Series LPGA International. It was her first professional win. In 2013, she became a member of the Ladies European Tour, finishing at number 78 on the Order of Merit. In July 2013 she played the Buckinghamshire Golf Club tournament. She won the Volvik RACV Ladies Master in February 2014. It was her second professional win and the first on a major tour. In December 2013, Cheyenne was ranked 93rd by Gold Week.

It is absurd, but true; it was her mother who pushed her to take the PGA Tour with Tiger Woods. Cheyenne was just a 19-month old toddler. From there started the mentorship between Tiger and her.  Her style of play is very similar to her uncle Tiger. Her delivery is non-strenuous and spark oriented with quality focus on the game. A promising ace-golfer of the younger generation, the media is exploring mixed reviews of her like winning her first national tournament in Jekyll Island at the age of 10, what tours will she be playing and will Tiger Wood’s personal controversies affect her. Cheyenne’s awards are several. She has been in an LOI with IMG’s sponsorship. Her recent LET ranking is 20th, 17th rank in putts, 15th in the birdies, 9th in the year list of rookie 2013, 51st in the money list of the LET in 2012, and qualifier of stage 2 of LPGA Q School in 2013.

Cheyenne’s personal life is simple. As of now she is confident and strongly focuses on her game. Her parents and uncle Tiger are strongly supportive. Her boyfriend is Josh Harris. Now or in the near future, there is no question of marriage. Currently unmarried, divorce is not a matter at all. She is too busy enjoying the game and having a ball.  Slim and athletic, Cheyenne still has a long way to go. Surely she will take the ladies number one spot in golf.
