Brittney Griner

Standing tall at 6 feet 8 inches, Brittney Griner signed a contract for Phoenix Mercury in 2013 to play professional basketball. She was declared WNBA All-Star within one year of joining the team.

Personal life

Brittney Griner was born on 18th October, 1990 in Houston Texas. Her parents were Raymond and Sandra Griner and they have three more kids. Brittney’s zodiac sign is Libra and she belongs to African-American ethnicity. She is 27 years old as of now. Brittney completed her high school studies from Nimitz High School which is situated in Houston. In the year 2009 while she was still in school, she excelled at the sport and was declared the best Women’s Basketball player in U.S.A. She delivered an outstanding performance for her school team with 52 dunks in just 32 games.

Brittney announced on April 17th, 2013 that she is a lesbian. She further stated that she was sometimes bullied during her childhood for her sexuality. Brittney announced her engagement to a WNBA player Glory Johnson. She married her on 15th May, 2015 in Arizona. Johnson was found pregnant the following day which created a feud between the newly wedded couple since Griner claimed to have no biological connection to the baby. The couple was arrested on April 22nd when they were caught indulging in a fight. To make matters worse, WNBA suspended the two for seven games.

Contrary to what some people say, Brittney actually has no ex-husband since she has always been a lesbian. She just enjoys a good salary playing basketball and lives alone.

Career

Brittney Griner started her career in basketball when she was in school. She excelled at the sport from a very young age which is evident by the accolades she acquired during her school days. She broke two records when she was in her school. One was for highest number of dunks and the other one was for highest number of blocks made by a female.

After a good high school career, Brittney represented her college basketball team which was Baylor University in Texas. She continued with her legacy of blocking shots by blocking 223 shots in a single season. She also pitched two dunks in one game which is something only two women have ever done. With another record-breaking performance at college level, she received The 2012 Premier Player of Women’s college basketball and also an induction to AP Second Team. She helped her college to win the first division basketball championship.

Brittney’s career as a professional basketball player began at Phoenix Mercury after she was recruited during the WNBA Draft in year 2013. Brittney was as good for her club as she was for her school and college teams. She kept her record-breaking streak continued at club level as well. She was called to play for the national team in 2012 Olympics but due to some crisis and her education, she could not participate. Brittney’s successful basketball career has helped her net worth reach $3 million. She might be only 27 years of age but there is no denying that she surely is a force to be reckoned with.
