Personal life

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s biography is surely one of those exemplary ‘rags to riches’ one. Having a baffling surname, a heavy Austrian accent and hailing from a small village of Thal in Austria makes it laborious for someone to succeed but there was nothing that could stop the mighty Arnold. This well-known international personality went on to become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars and almost when everybody thought that he was past his prime, he became the Governor of California!

Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was born on 30th July, 1947. His nationality is Austrian where he was born in a small village in the town of Thal. He was born to parents Aurelia and Gustav Schwarzenegger. His father Gustav used to be a local police chief. Arnold was quite passionate about bodybuilding since a very young age and while he was in Europe, he used to compete in several contests. It was when he emigrated to the ‘land of opportunities’ a.k.a. United States of America that the star in him began to rise.

Arnold married tv journalist Maria Shriver, who is the niece of ex President of U.S.A. John F. Kennedy on 26th April, 1986. They have four children, all of them born in Los Angeles. However, after sharing a long relationship of 31 years with his wife, the couple decided to part ways in 2017. Thus, they both took a divorce and now live separately. Arnold is quite active on various social media platforms. His instagram goes by the username @schwarzenegger while his twitter can also be searched by the same username.

Career

Arnold Schwarzenegger moved to the U.S.A. in 1968 with a dream of making it big as a bodybuilder but little did he know that he would go on to become much more. Starting from 1970, Arnold dominated the bodybuilding industry for over a decade. He won the covetous Mr. Universe title five times and Mr. Olympia titles for a total of seven times.

With the success of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the craze for fitness and gym spread like wildfire. Hordes of male fans and female adulators began to love him and in an attempt to look like him, gym memberships started swelling by a huge number all across the world. Along with all these prestigious awards and huge number of fans for Arnold came the opportunities to play Hollywood films.

Arnold’s debut film ‘Hercules in New York’ was released in 1970 in which he played the role of Arnold Strong. After that, he did ‘Stay Hungry’ after a span of six years alongside Sally Field and Jeff Bridges, for which Arnold was awarded a Golden Globe Award.

An year later in 1977, Arnold made probably the biggest documentaries of all time titled ‘Pumping Iron’ which was about his Mr. Olympia contest in 1975. He was then given a role in a comedy film ‘The Villain’ in 1979. Arnold probably needed a film in which he could portray himself as a warrior and ‘Conan the Barbarian’ film did just that. This was followed by plenty of movie offers which is why his net worth today is $300 million.
