Amanda Burden was born on January 18, 1944, as Amanda Jay Mortime. Amanda has lived in various part of the United States. Babe Paley, a famous socialite is her mother and her father is her mother’s maiden husband Stanley Grafton Mortimer, Jr., of Stanley Oil Company. Amanda has seven siblings. Out of which 5 of them are from her mother’s second marriage. Her grandfather was a researcher and was well known as the father of American Neurosurgery for the contribution in this field.

Before marriage in 1964 to Carter Burden she studied at Wellesley College, and after the wedding, she did graduation in 1976 from Environmental Science at Sarah Lawrence College then she got master’s degree in from Columbia University. Her first work was with the construction firm. During graduation, she was the owner of ‘the Village Voice and New York magazine. In 1966 Amanda was named for best-Dressed List of the New York Couture Group. The second marriage of Amanda Burden also does not work for a long time, and they got divorced in 1981.
