Tom Glavine was born as Thomas Michael Glavine on 25th March 1966 as the third son of Mildred Glavine and Fred out of 4. He was born in Concord, Massachusetts but brought up in Billerica, Massachusetts where he did his schooling at the Billerica Memorial High School. He was an excellent player of baseball and ice-hockey as a student. Tom got graduated with honors in 1984. In 1993 he was selected to be part of the American Hall of Fame at Billerica Memorial High School. For four years he was a member of National Honor Society and Honor rolls. Tom also gained honors in Boston Globe’s All Scholastic and Player of the year in both hockey and baseball.


Tom was drafted by Los Angel  Kings and Atlanta Braves after his graduation. He chose baseball at this time as his profession and his debut into the field of  baseball on 17th August 1987. He played for Atlanta Braves from 1987 until 2002. He was blessed with luck in 1991 and he won Twenty games which led him to get the National League Cy Young Award. His success was a helping hand for the Atlanta Braves to win many games and get a chance to the World Series but the failed to the Minnesota Twins in 7 plays. He then played for the New York Met from 2003 to 2007.It was a deal signed for 4 years with an amount of $42.5 Million to the New York Met. In 2008 he retired as being a part of Atlanta Braves itself, at where he made his debut. But his 1st   year at NYM was a failure. He could not even 10 games and since 1988 this was happening for the first time. His brother Mike was also asked to join the Met at the end of the season.

In November 2007 Tom teamed up with the Atlanta Braves once again for a contract worth $8 Million for one year. In the 22 year profession as a player he was put on the Disabled List in April 2008. He won a game On 14th May 2008 after a long gap of six years since 2002. This was 304th game that he won and it was against Philadelphia Phillies when he played with Atlanta Braves. He played his final game on 14th of August 2008. It was on 11th February 2010 that he officially retired from his profession.Tom was an effective left hand pitcher. But he lost the speed over time. His style was unpredictable for the opposing teams which gave Tom’s team higher chance of winning. His personal life is intertwined with several charity works too.

Tom Glavine married  Carrie Ann Dobbins in 1992 but the relation between them did not last longer. They divorced in 1997. In this he has son named Amber Nicole. Later he got married to Christine Glavine. The couple have four children named Jonathan, Mason, Kienan and Peyton. His wife had a son in her first marriage and that was Jonathan.
