Early Life and Beginning of Career

Rex Linn was born on November 13, 1956. His birthplace is Spearman in Hansford County in Texas. His parents were a lawyer, James Paul Linn, and Darlene Linn. When he was thirteen years of age, the family shifted to Oklahoma City. He attended various schools such as the Heritage Hall and then Casady School that belonged to the Episcopal Church. He also worked at the Oklahoma City Zoo for some time.

Jack Nicholson’s movie One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest had a profound impact on Rex Linn as a young man. This movie and Nicholson’s performance in it captivated him so much that he decided that his calling most definitely lay in the acting profession.

He started auditioning for roles. He played a part in his school’s production of Fiddler on the Roof. He then worked with the Lakeshore Bank for a while till it went insolvent, and then tried his hands at some other occupations. The first film he acted in was Dark before Dawn.

Growth of Acting Career

After his first movie, he got his first major role as a serial killer in the movie Night Game. Then he played a diametrically opposite role, that of a sheriff, in the TV series Young Riders. After that he relocated to the West and appeared in movies such as My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, Sniper, Cliffhanger, and Clear and Present Danger.

He appeared on several TV shows too, including Raven, Northern Exposure, and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. He has also made brief appearances in 3rd Rock from the Sun, Vengeance Unlimited, Walker Texas Ranger, The Pretender, and The Fugitive. But his biggest claim to fame is the long-running role he played in CSI: Miami, a role that lasted for nine years starting 2003 and spanned 187 episodes.

Very recently, he has appears as Kevin Watchell in Better Call Saul. He has also appeared in a webisode of The Walking Dead: Torn Apart.

Personal Life

Rex Linn is married but he is fiercely guarded about his private life, preferring to speak only through his publicist. The name of his wife is not available in the public domain. There are no details as to when they got engaged or married.

He is quite a tall man at 6’4”. There were some recent rumors about him on social media websites that he might be suffering from cancer but there is no confirmation of the same.
